Books are filling the shelves in one of the two rooms designated for the Stokesdale Library inside Stokesdale Town Hall.
A community library that will initially be housed in two rooms within the Stokesdale Town Hall is on target to open within the next two to three weeks.
The library committee recently met to unpack boxes of books and distribute them to the proper shelves in the rooms designated for the library. The software that will be used to check out books has been installed and each book's information is being entered in the computer system.
At their meeting on Feb. 19, the town council voted to adopt a form that will be signed when citizens make a donation. The form is similar to one used by Goodwill but also states that once an item is donated, it becomes the property of the town.
The library committee is also working on a description of criteria for donated books, which will describe what the town will and will not accept.
