Dogs and their owners frequently enjoy walking in Oak Ridge Town Park.

"We knew people would come out to walk, but I don't think we anticipated as many people who would come out with their pets," says Terry Lannon, Oak Ridge's director of Parks and Recreation. "There are a couple of dozen every night of the week and even more on the weekends."
Lannon is referring to the popularity of Oak Ridge Town Park among human walkers/runners and their four-legged friends. With the addition of a proposed dog park, pet owners can look forward to allowing their dogs to run freely and interact with other canines.
At this point, the dog park is in the initial planning stages. A site has been selected and stakes driven to encompass roughly 1.5 acres in a wooded area located near the park's playground.
