GCS to present 'State of Our Schools' Thursday
Report to include plans for next four years

Guilford County Schools will set the course for the next four years while looking back at recent achievements on Jan. 31.

At 6 p.m. at the Carolina Theatre on Greene Street in Greensboro, the fourth annual State of Our Schools event will be held.

Superintendent Maurice "Mo" Green will update guests on the district's goals and initiatives, as well and lay out the road map for the district's next four years: Strategic Plan 2016. Green will be joined by more than 200 students from 30 GCS schools, as well as community groups and members of the educational, business and nonprofit community.

State of Our Schools will include highlights of the district's successes over the past few years.In addition, it will feature details about the plan to provide all students with personalized-learning opportunities through technology and targeted classes.

During the event, school officials will reveal whether GCS students met the superintendent's challenge to read 3 million books in 2012, as well as the total number of books students have read in the past three years.
