Cooperation between two branches of Guilford County government will help increase northwest area public safety.
The Guilford County District 1 Sheriff's Office's lease is up at its 5332 U.S. 220 North location, and plans are in place for the construction of a permanent home on Summerfield Road. In the meantime, District 1 will conduct business out of part of the Laughlin Professional Development Center, at 7911 Summerfield Road.
Capt. Phil Byrd, District 1 commander, anticipates the office will be up and running in its new home no later than Wednesday.
