Summerfield Town Council discussed its interest in town hall possibilities on Jan. 22.
Summerfield is interested in exploring possibilities for a new town hall or using other nearby buildings for municipal purposes associated with the current town hall.
That decision was reached during a specially-called Jan. 22 meeting at town hall. Whether or not a new building is constructed or an adjacent property is used for a town hall annex is still to be decided after proper research is conducted.
Council agreed to gauge the Summerfield Fire Department's interest in receiving a piece of property on Summerfield Road at no cost. The property, adjacent to the fire department's Station 9, is where Founders Day activities take place. Should the fire department express interest, an agreement would include the caveat that the town would be permitted to continue using the property as the site for Founders Day.
The procedure to sell holdings on Brookbank Road was also discussed, should an interested buyer come forward.
